BATTLE OF BUSHY RUN

Aug. 4 and 5. See all the colors of the war in vibrant
recreations during the 255th anniversary of the
Battle of Bushy Run, which pitted the forces of His
Royal Highness King George III against a confedera-tion
of Native Americans. Battle re-enactments
occur in the afternoon each day. Also featured are
18th-century military camps, a sutler trade area and
a children’s area. Adults $10, children $5, younger

PITTSBURGH RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

Open rain or shine for six weekends, including Labor
Day. Take a magical tour through time and legend
as you wander down the village streets and path-ways
of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival in West
Newton. Ready thyself to revel with master revel-ers,
watch artisans work in ancient-style crafts and
enjoy a roast turkey leg, steak on a stake or fresh

FLAX SCUTCHING FESTIVAL

Sept. 15 and 16. The Flax Scutching Festival in
Stahlstown offers demonstrations of the complete
process of making linen from the flax plant. Enjoy
homemade food, crafts, antique farm equipment,
live music, Civil War encampment, covered wagon
train encampment and a staged Indian raid. Adults

WESTMORELAND COUNTY FAIR
Aug. 17-25. Now in its 65th year, the fair hosts
live entertainment, an annual pageant, arena events,
agricultural exhibits, vendors and more. Daily
admission $7. Before 2 p.m. $3 admission (not
