NACAC 2017

Seton Hill student creates memorial sculpture for community leader Seton Hill studio art major Saige Baxter (SHU ’16) spent more than 10 months designing and fabricating a memorial sculpture for Greensburg philanthropist Jennings Womack. Although she never met the subject of her piece, Saige researched his life and community involvement and met with many of the people who knew him. She worked with the team that had commissioned the piece to create dozens of design concepts before finding the one that worked — a large abstract sculpture meant to represent a mountain. Saige Baxter designed a memorial sculpture for Greensburg philanthropist Jennings Womack. As the piece was scheduled for installation outside of the new Jennings Womack Wellness and Fitness Center at Greensburg Salem High School, Saige designed it to be beautiful and interactive. The sculpture was unveiled during the dedication of the Jennings Womack Wellness and Fitness Center on November 15, 2016.
