The celebration will highlight the creative endeavors of area high school seniors in the categories of music, theatre and visual art. Mike Langer, president of the Trust, congratulates the stu-dents and their families: “All of us at the Trust are proud to host this annual event. We congratulate our senior awardees and thank them for their valued contribution to the cultural community of Westmoreland County.” “This outreach event aligns nicely with the Trust’s mis-sion” event coordinator Kelli Brisbane said. Fifty-five high school seniors from 18 Westmoreland County schools will be celebrated for their excellence and outstanding achievement in music, theatre and visual art. Each student was nominated by a teacher and will be pre-sented with an award on stage by Judge Richard McCormick and Tom Balya, husband to the late Judge Debra Pezze. Judge Pezze is quoted as saying, “It’s a greatly deserved thank you to these young people who make our ordinary lives, extraordinary.” Judge McCormick adds that he and Judge Pezze have Morgan Rockwell Artistic merit in: Music Parents/guardians: John and Amy Rockwell Activities: National Honor Society, choreographer, show choir, concert choir, senior drum major, marching band, concert and jazz band, flute, piccolo, baritone sax. Future plans: Next year, she plans to study music education. Katherine Spiering Artistic merit in: Visual art Parents/guardians: Guy and Sandra Spiering Activities: Drama club, chorus and art club Future plans: Visual arts major, Westmoreland County Community College, then transfer to Edinboro University. Burrell always “taken a lot of pride in our honorees. These young creators of art and performance are the next generation of leaders.” Students will also receive a commemorative T-shirt and a complimentary meal.
