THE ARTS 24 | Destination Westmoreland 2017 “I had been looking for a permanent home for the theatre for quite some time. Latrobe’s then-City Manager Wayne Jones knew the build-ing was coming on the market, and he arranged for John Horanic and me to see it,” Carosella said. “We saw the immense possibilities as soon as we saw the inside of the building. “I wanted a place to play and develop the skills of our craft, and I wanted the Latrobe community to have a place to experience good theatre — to have their spirits strengthened by exposure to the healing power of good theatre.” Jarod Trunzo, executive director of the Latrobe Community Revitalization Program said the former Manos Theatre building holds a very unique and distinctive place in Latrobe’s history. “Live theatre is well-aligned with, and greatly enhances, the vision for a more vibrant down-town Latrobe,” Trunzo said. “To be able to tell the building’s story through bringing it back to life structurally and aesthetically, while also giv-ing a renewed purpose, is a massive challenge.” Carosella expected to get a building permit, The Cabaret Theatre exterior awaits finishing touches.
