DINING OUT ADDITION OF DINER TO BRING EVEN MORE CHARACTER TO LAMP Vintage diner was moved from Pittsburgh’s Station Square to new home in Irwin BY TRIB TOTAL MEDIA A heavy-duty road trip, a generous donation and lots of planning have gone into the ongoing renova-tion at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin. The upgrades to the outside of the venue have centered around the acquisition of a vintage diner that made a roundabout, 52-mile journey from Station Square in Pitts-burgh to its resting place adja-cent to the theatre building. The diner, built in 1951 and once the home of the popular Ritter’s Diner in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood, had rested vacant for many years in one of Station Square’s parking lots. The Lamp Theatre’s board of directors scooped up the building for a mere $100, but Elizabeth Equipment Services Inc. hauls the old Ritter’s Diner from Station Square in Pittsburgh to its new home at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin on April 21.
