AGRICULTURE Morris Organic Farm Free Business Services provided by SCORE Destination Westmoreland 2017 | 35 (CSAs), pick-your-own or pre-order methods. When you become a CSA member, you’re basically agreeing to buy a “share” of vegetables from a local farmer. Morris Organic Farm This farm in Irwin begins its regular hours in July, when the tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and the bulk of summer crops become available for you to pick yourself. They are USDA Certified Organic and update their website regularly with the list of vegetables that are in season and available, as well as what’s planted and will be ready at a future date. Pricing is also listed on the site. Their crops include beans, cucumbers, squash, greens, herbs, tomatoes, corn and lots of others, with offerings varying from year to year. If you don’t want to pick your own, you also can find them at the Irwin Farm Market on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon, June through October, as well as the North Versailles Farm Market on Wednes-days from 4 to 7 p.m., July 13 through October. Find them online at morrisorganic.com. Sarver’s Hill Farm & CSA This Greensburg-based farm and CSA has been in business and farming organically since 1979. Paul Sarver apprenticed under one of the first or-ganic farmers in Westmoreland County in the early 1970s, and the farm has been offering CSAs since 1992, connecting community members back to their local farmers long before it became a trend. Shares of 20 and 24 weeks are available, beginning in either May or June each year and lasting through October. In addition to their CSAs, they also offer free-range chickens through their farm and beef and pork raised on neighbor and friend David Kemerer’s farm. The animals have been fed on grasses and grain solely from his farm. They also have a limited supply of honey and offer eggs for sale at the farm. Their 2017 business hours are Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Lynchfield Park parking lot in Greensburg; Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their Route 66 farm stand from July though October; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon at Lynchfield Park and Aerobic Center. adno=6479390 254th Anniversary Battle of Bushy Run August 5 and 6, 2017 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Two Reenactments Daily, Child’s Event Area, British and Native Encampments, Sutlers, Concessions and Museum Tours 1253 Bushy Run Road Jeannette, PA 15644 (724)-527-5584 www.bushyrunbattlefield.com adno=6477844 Mentoring, counseling and workshops, all at no-charge can help you start or grow your business.
