Goals: From a young age, I have, un-fortunately, been confronted with the reality of Alzheimer’s Disease in my family. My plan is to study biomedical engineering with an intent to pursue a medical profession in either neurology or neurosurgery, bringing together the technology of the future with the medical dilemmas of (hopefully) the past. Goals: I will be attending Kent State to receive my bachelor’s degree in architecture and minor in historic preservation. Upon finishing college, I plan to move to the New York City area. Initially, I will most likely live in the city, but my ultimate goal is to work from home and commute to the city only when needed. My dream is to design buildings that emulate the beauty of the past or specialize in pre-serving our former landmark buildings to keep them around longer. Nichole Szafranski School, grade: Pine-Richland High School, 12 Parents: Stan and Lisa Szafranski Academic achievements: The Enlisted As-sociation Award of Merit; AFJROTC department award for outstanding achievement and excellence; Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizen-ship Award; Rotary Club Student of Distinction. Extracurricular activities: AFJROTC drill and color guard competition teams; Mountaineer Cadet Officer Leadership School; Traveled with JROTC to Europe. Community involvement: Hog Heaven Rescue Farm volunteer; Na-tional Society of Sons of the Ameri-can Revolution; Vet Tech Institute Paws for the Cure volunteer; Twin-brook Animal Clinic employee. Goals: My plan is to attend West Virginia University to major in crimi-nology and intelligence to continue my Air Force JROTC after completing my fourth year at the high school level. After college, I hope to go into the Air Force as an officer and work in Homeland Security with a K-9. Goals: I plan to attend a four-year university and receive my bachelor’s degree in engineering. While in col-lege, I will join Greek life as a means to spearhead more philanthropic op-portunities and volunteer regularly. I also plan on participating in the dance team and receiving my yoga teaching certifications. Combining my personal strengths with academics and volun-teering will provide the foundation for the goals that I aspire to achieve. Goals: I have been accepted into the Cook Honors College at IUP which only takes 100 students. I plan on earning my major in criminology, pre-law and double-major in political science. After undergraduate, I hope to go to law school. Melissa Zentz School, grade: Pine-Richland High School, 12 Parent: Cindy Zentz Academic achievements: Honor Roll; Na-tional Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientist Award. Goals: Throughout high school, I discovered that I was interested in law and wanted to go to college to become a lawyer. Through social studies class, I learned that I liked to debate, and talk about pressing issues. This led me to finding the op-portunity to shadow at the Pittsburgh Court House. It was an experience of a lifetime, one that truly allowed me to see what a lawyer did and what happened behind the scenes. From that point, I knew that being a lawyer was the profession for me. Goals: I received early acceptance to Niagara College Canada for their Chef Management program. I will gradu-ate in April 2019. I then plan to enter a double internship (Culinary and Pastry) at The Biltmore Estate for 6-9 months. Following that internship, I plan to go to Penn College for Baking and Pastry arts. When I graduate from Penn College I plan to study abroad in Ireland. Emily Yosi School, grade: Baldwin High School, 11 Parent: Joanne Farrell Academic achievements: National Honor Society; Highest Honors. Goals: I plan to go to college, but I’m not sure which college yet. I plan to major in a type of science, engineer-ing or medicine. Also, I would like to run cross country and track in college. I would like to graduate with a bach-elor’s degree and possibly go back to school to earn a master’s degree. After graduating, I would like to find a well-paying job and settle down with a family and travel the world to experience the different cultures each place has to offer. Goals: I plan to continue developing my knowledge and working toward creating a new and clean future of travel in the aerospace field. After receiving a degree in aerospace en-gineering at Penn State, Ohio State, Purdue or Georgia Institute of Tech-nology, I hope to become an employee of Boeing, NASA or SpaceX. Goals: I have been accepted into Duquesne University’s Pre-Medicine Program for the upcoming fall semes-ter. I will be majoring in biology and focusing on a medical career. I plan to attend medical school after my four years at Duquesne. I am currently interested in dermatology and family medicine. I plan on playing intramu-ral volleyball and studying abroad in Rome in my years at Duquesne.
