It was something we didn’t anticipate, but we appreciate it.” The more exotic choices on Sunset Pizza’s menu come from Sadi Bircan’s Turkish heritage. Their homemade pide—Turkish pizza— comes in many varieties, including spinach, cheese, potato and sucuk, a Turkish beef pepperoni. Beef, chicken and lamb kebabs, gyros, hummus, stuffed grape leaves and cigarette borek—a rolled dough filled with feta cheese and fresh parsley—add to the diverse selection. On the other end of their menu, Sunset Pizza offers a wide range of toppings and cheeses for their delicious pizza, as well as hoagies, calzones, wings, appetizers and desserts, making it a community business that truly has something for everyone. “Of course, our pizza sells pretty well, but just about everything else does,” Diane Bircan said. “We have about six or seven of us that work there, and we keep it going pretty well.” Sunset Pizza customers can dine in, carry out or get delivery in Carnegie and the surrounding communities, and Sunset Pizza also offers catering for parties and events.
