Swiss chard is also a great choice, as it doesn’t mind warm weather.
Beets, carrots, arugula, cabbage and other cole crops, along with
lots of other plants, would be happy in the garden right now.
Use mulch wisely
Add mulch where needed — it’s a great weed control and will keep
the soil evenly moist.
Water properly
Watering plants should be done in the morning and at the bottom
of the plant; try to keep the foliage from getting wet.
That’s especially important for plants that are prone to fungal is-sues.
Soak the plants to encourage a deep root zone.
Lawn care is key
Cut the grass often with a sharp blade and keep it high, over three
inches tall. This helps encourage deeper roots and shades out weeds.
Leave the clippings on the grass as long as they are not too thick.
They will decompose quickly and help feed the lawn.
Enjoy the weather
Enjoy the warm temperatures and your time in the garden.
We’ve waited a long time to see summer again, so don’t let it pass
by without being enjoyed.
‘Freckles’ lettuce is something
that can be planted from seed right now.
Tomatoes love warm soil and
can be planted all month long.
