One of the ways Ohio Valley Hospital continues to expand is through their primary care practices.They began by opening an office in downtown Coraopolis six years ago, and have recently expanded within the last two years, with offices in Crafton, the South Side, and Kennedy Township. At many of these locations, OVH offers preventative care services such as vaccinations, gynecological services, and wellness visits to try and help patients before a hospital visit becomes necessary. “First and foremost, we are a community hospital,” said Ohio Valley Hospital Public Information Officer Megan Hinds. “It’s important to treat people when they are sick or injured, but it’s just as important to try and prevent them from getting to that point. Our offices are a place where patients can come and get more than your typical primary care visit.” Services at the hospital have continued to expand, with a new Outpatient Psychiatric center located in Kennedy Township. This center offers help for people over the age of 40 dealing with depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia care, or who may need family therapy. Their staff includes a licensed clinical social worker, along with a psychiatrist and CRNP. For those over the age of 55 requiring additional help, Ohio Valley Hospital’sWillow Brook Geropsychiatric Unit is one of the only inpatient centers of its kind in the area. Through all of their expansion efforts, Ohio Valley Hospital’s main focus is on continuing adno=6443259 to be a community hospital. OVH recently held their 9th annual Diabetes Day, a free community event that drew in more than one hundred and sixty attendees for free testing, food demonstrations and lectures.The 36th annual OVH and Kennedy Township 5K, one of their biggest events of the year, is coming up at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the hospital. “We try to use opportunities like those not only to let people know about the hospital, but also to show people the importance of a healthy lifestyle,” Hinds said.
