It never changes, so we stick to our recipes no matter what,” says Vince. That mindset started with Vince and Damiano’s father, Frank Pasqualino, and his late brother Joseph when they started the business back in 1971 at the original location of Penn Hills (which is still run by Frank Pasqualino and Joesph’s son Frank). The brothers were already working for their father at age eight. “We started with folding boxes, then we graduated to shredded cheese, then we worked behind the counter,” says Vince. In 1997, Vince and Damiano opened their first restaurant—a small, takeout and delivery pizza shop.Then, in 2000, the brothers moved to a new location in Murrysville, and Vince says, the community has been great to him and his brother. The restaurant had a major expansion in August of 2014 when the brothers moved into a new building in Murrysville, housing a banquet room and an outside patio area. Now that Spring is here, the outside rooftop patio is open! It is the only one in the Murrysville area. This year, Osteria Pasqualino earned a Readers’ Choice Community Award for Best Pizza in the Murrysville. Vince spends his days at Osteria Pasqualino doing prep work, ordering inventory and most importantly— cooking. Cooking is no light job at this restaurant, where they make about 600 meatballs and 60 gallons of pasta sauce per day. “We try to keep consistent, keep the prices fair, and get good food out,” says Vince. No matter how much prices go up, Vince says they always buy the same quality ingredients.
