spent in the country.
As we stepped off the bus, we were greeted by the
overwhelming, intoxicating fragrance of a pink climbing rose that
rambled over a flowering crabapple tree, using the branches as a
trellis.
It looked like a giant tree rose, a breathtaking site none of us
could have imagined in our wildest garden dreams.
Head gardener Sean Heffernan took one group, and
gardener Graham Wilson guided the other. Both introduced us
enthusiastically to this world-class landscape planted in what’s
called a Robinsonian style.
No formal beds here, every inch though filled with fascinating
cultivars that intrigued each visitor.
It was the sense of humor and obvious love of Mount Usher
