Fifty years later, Chatham broke ground on the world’s first academic community built from the ground up for the study of sustainability-the 388-acre, Eden Hall Campus located in Richland, PA. Today, students at Eden Hall are using the campus to address environmental and societal challenges in energy, water, food, and business. Now, Eden Hall is open to the public, with tours, programs, and educational opportunities for learners of all ages. Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus is more than a living and learning laboratory-it’s the embodiment of a commitment Chatham makes every day to sustainability and environmental education, and home to the Falk School of Sustainability.We offer five degrees: Bachelor of Sustainability, Master of Arts in Food Studies (MAFS), Master of Sustainability (MSUS), MSUS/MBA dual degree, and MAFS/MBA dual degree. Each program blends full involvement with the curriculum through projects, assistantships, summer immersion programs, and community engagement. Our graduates can do more than tell employers what they’re capable of doing; they’re able to show them what they’ve done. Eden Hall Campus is a living and learning laboratory that embodies our commitment to sustainability research, education and outreach. Highlights include research labs for water and energy monitoring; an aquaculture center; onsite stormwater and wastewater management systems; a variety of renewable energy sources including solar and geothermal; extensive sustainable and certified organic agricultural activities; and over four hundred solar panels. Eden Hall Campus is also a vibrant cultural resource for the North Hills. There you’ll find baking and other food-related classes and workshops; farm-to-table dining events, community workshops, and the annual Summer Series, where you can enjoy music, theater, and other events in an outdoor amphitheater built right into the landscape offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.The summer series offers great entertainment for adults, kids, and families.
