Ligonier — Plan your next staycation
Staycations are a great option for families that need a break without breaking
the bank.
Ligonier Valley, only an hour outside of Pittsburgh, combines a small-town
feel with a breadth of offerings that give you that sense of getting away, without
the long travel time.
Our historic valley is recognized by Country Living magazine as one of “The
Most Charming Small Towns in
America” and by The Washington
Post as a “Small-Town
Charmer.” The town is home to
more than 60 specialty shops,
galleries, restaurants and places
to stay, while steeped in history
dating to the French & Indian
War at Fort Ligonier.
Accommodations run from
camping to condos, hotels,
charming B&Bs, home rentals and more.
The surrounding valley is home to Idlewild & SoakZone, voted “Best Amusement
Park for Children in the World,” as well as the Compass Inn Museum, Fort
Ligonier — home of Washington’s Remarks, a document recounting the time
Washington spent in Westmoreland County — Southern Alleghenies Museum of
Art, The Lincoln Highway Experience, Linn Run State Park and biking and hiking
at Laurel Mountain.
The Ligonier Chamber of Commerce hosts events including Sunday evening
concerts on the Diamond, Summer in Ligonier, Fort Ligonier Days, Light Up
Ligonier and more. A wide range of entertainment includes art galleries and
theater, animal parks, golf, skiing and festivals.
Ligonier boasts some of the best eats in the country, including rustic comfort
food, diners and dives, fresh baked goods and exquisite fine dining.
Beautiful trails, well-planned parks and ample open space are some of the
town’s most prominent features.
You and your loved ones are sure to find something to keep you coming back.
Ligonier.com lets you easily find lodging and plan activities for your visit,
while live webcams of the Diamond and Laurel Mountain and our informative
blog are sure to remove any hesitation in choosing this destination.
