NIGHT MARKET OFFERS TRENDY
VENUE FOR LOCAL VENDORS
Once a month, Downtown Greensburg transforms into a marketplace for
vendors selling everything from farm-raised meats to soaps and jewelry

On a hot evening in late June, crowds packed South
Pennsylvania Avenue behind the courthouse in
Greensburg for one of the newest but already
popular downtown events: the Greensburg Night Market.
They sampled from vendors selling fresh sauces and salsas,
perused local farm-raised meats, fresh vegetables and other
foods and browsed stands offering jewelry, soaps and other
handmade items.
They enjoyed the evening air while enjoying the live entertainment
provided by the Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s
TGIS concert series.
The idea of a night market, which will be held monthly
through October this year, has been in the works for about
two years, said Downtown Greensburg Project director
Jessica Hickey.
“We have some farmer’s markets here but we’ve tried to
bring in some artisans and other things that maybe aren’t

something that’s a little trendy and just bring something

Hickey travels quite a bit, she said, and over the past
