The new C40 Recharge hatchback uses the same
platform as the XC40 Recharge crossover. Unlike the
XC40, which is available with a gasoline engine or
electric propulsion, the C40 Recharge is exclusively
electric. It comes with all-wheel-drive, courtesy of
front and rear electric motors that collectively generate
402 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. The
75-kilowatt-hour battery pack provides sufficient juice
for an estimated 210 miles of range per full charge. A
Level 2 charger is good for adding 25 miles of range
per hour. Volvo claims the C40 Recharge can scoot
to 60 mph from rest in 4.5 seconds. The Ultimate trim
level — the only one available — includes a fixed
panoramic sunroof, Harmon Kardon-brand premium
audio system, 360-degree surround-view camera and
unique 20-inch wheels. The C40 Recharge’s 9.0-inch
vertical infotainment screen comes with Android and
Apple CarPlay as well as Google Maps and Google
